pg 25 "Every man is tasked to make his life, even in its details, worthy of the contemplations of his most elevated and critical hour."
What he is getting at is that you have to create your own life. Not to try and make your life like someone elses. If you do this you will be better off, this is what he is saying.
Pg 25 "We must learn to reawaken and keep ourselves awake,"
Thoreau is saying that we have to come out of the fog of life. And not just live life with the same routine. He says to not us mechanical because that is still mainstream culture. He wants us to refer back to nature the natural way to be awake.
Pg 24 " the morning, which is the most memorable season of the day, is the awakening hour."
He states that during this time there is a part of us that "awakens" for an hour and sleeps the rest of the time. You are exiting the sleeping stage and enter into the fog of the day. This does not happen allot because the mechanical side of life keeps it away but in nature it can happen more often.
